Now it does it automatically. true. Bard 10 is really, really good. Bard 11 I don't really care for. Their 6th levels spells aren't worth it. But Bard 10 is amazing. I would do that, a level in fighter for archery fighting style, shield proficiency so you can have a shield on your melee set and get the AC boost even when you have crossbows out, and second wind (which scales off character level in BG3 rather than fighter level). Typically you'd need Crossbow Expert feat to get a bonus action attack, in BG3 you can do it for free. Straight Swords Bard until 6 is the best build, with a Fighter 1/Swords X respec at level 7 to get Archery Fighting style and Con save proficiency.

If you choose Strength, Rangers in this game can pick " Ranger Knight " to get heavy armor. Dex won't be as important then. You're proficient in Dex saves, so you can do whatever you want. Pick that, get Dual Wielder at 4, and you're set. You can also jump farther. If you choose Dexterity, just up your dex and con.
