The only way to find it is to test all the switches. +1 that is exactly what I was trying to say but you said it better. Have someone pound along the front edge of the hood while you tug on the hood release cable a few times. Even if you break your grille off you cannot get to the hood release because it is behind ...Feed the cable from the wheel well into the engine compartment (the round ball nearing end goes towards the mechanism.
