If it's out of adjustment, it won't disengage the clutch and will cause it to be hard to shift. Most 4-wheeler problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars and the seat!! You only need two tools in life -- WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
Jun 6, 2016 · 2008 420 Rancher ES, less that 50 hours on it. When idle it will shift through the gears just fine. When moving slowly, like creeper slow it will also shift gears. However once you begin moving over 3-MPH or so it will no longer shift. I changed the angle sensor, no luck. Shift motor seems fine because of it shifting when idle. If you don't have it an 8mm socket on a 1/4 drive works. Rock the bike back and forth might be needed. Very common to hang between gears. I just cleaned the IACV (idle air control valve) and fixed the exact same problem for the cost of a $5 can of wallyworld CRC electronic cleaner spray and a T20 safety torx bit.
