You should try removing the positive (+) battery lead for a good while and allow the ECU to "reset" itself. On the XP 4 900, the indicator light you are referring to has to do with the power steering. If you turn the key to on and wait for 10 seconds or so before starting the machine, the power steering will turn off and the indicator light will come on.
