I think the defenses are more important so you may be able to create a viable build with pistoleer but having a dizzy/knockdown combo will improve your chances greatly. I don't believe pistoleer has a dizzy ability.It only takes about 4 missions and you pick up the rest on the way to the village. If you stay close to the village, you are dependant on spawns and Mol's intimidate and give less xp.
