I'm having a hard time deciding between UCF or UF for my undergraduate Pre-Vet studies. UF is the only veterinary medicine school in Florida so that's probably where I'm going for graduate school. I've got a couple suggestions. My mom gave me a book a couple years ago called The Horse Doctor Is In by Brent Kelley, DVM. He presents horse health care using stories from his time as an equine vet in Kentucky. Also, one of my all time favorite books is Most of My Patients Are Animals by Robert M. Miller, DVM.

It becomes exponentially more difficult to find an alternate path if you just have the pre reqs for vet school done and no degree or anything else to show for it. On the other hand, finishing the pre-reqs super fast means spending less on tuition and ultimately could mean graduating with a DVM a little less in the hole of debt.Feb 9, 2023 · Dec 19, 2023. #41. Its not worth your time and money if your goal is to become a vet. In the time it would take you to become a certified tech, you could already be accepted to vet school. The only thing becoming a certified tech does is ensure that you delayed yourself from starting vet school by an extra 2 years.

Yes, the vet school does take mainly in-state students, after all it is a state school, but if your grades are good and you are in-state you have a chance no matter what school you went to. It was pretty helpful to know exactly what the people in vet school were going through and to see firsthand what was needed that year and personal interview experiences. they also did field trips to the aquarium and zoo.

It's a small town which I preferred. Just a note though about gaining residency. You can't gain residency while you're in undergrad.
