Feb 8, 2024 · In most of our objective tests in Filmmaker Mode (the closest you can get to out-of-the-box calibration) at the default settings, the S90C matched our (elevated) expectations. Unlikely at least when compared to s95c. Same panel and better cooling + power delivery on s90c. The one connect box form factor requires losing out in those areas. Even slightly worn down 1300 nits to like 1250 nits is still 250 nits brighter than the base 1000ish nits.
For our calibration we set it to 'Off', as this delivers the best possible accuracy. The 'Off' setting effectively disables ABL entirely but results in a much lower peak brightness overall. There's almost no difference between the 'On' and the 'High' setting. Finally, the Samsung S95B supports a new Smart Calibration feature.
