You do not get the same spell slot progression as the base class. By default a spellcaster dedication feat only grants you access to cantrips. You can then take the Basic, Expert and Master Spellcasting feats to unlock spell slots from that class, But they only grant you 1 spell slot and you will receive them at higher levels than the base class.
