Trip Report TR for Saint Martin SXM January 2022. 2 years ago. Save. Our trip: 1/16-1/22/22. -1/14/22 We flew from SFO to Miami and spent the night. Then our direct flight from Miami-SXM was delayed a day due to the 1/15 St. Maarten ATC strike. So our planned 7days/nights on SXM ended up only 6 days/nights, but we made the most of it.Yes, I have rented from SXM Beach Rentals (St. Martin Beach Rentals), most recently this past January/February.I am booked through them again for January and February 2024. Jill (the local on-island agent) and Gordon (the unit propety manager) are terrific, easy to work with, and accommodating.

Sint Maarten Thrifty Car Rental. My husband and I just returned from an 8-day trip to Sint Maarten/St. Martin. We also traveled there last year about the same time. On both trips, we rented cars from Thrifty. Last year, no problems. This year everything was great until we returned the car.

It was a simple building and the luggage came out on a cinder block conveyer belt. No air conditions either . Save. I contacted them, and as I remember it was $185 per person so I tossed the idea aside quickly. Perhaps useful if you are transferring through to St Barths on a tight connection, but otherwise ... If you send via mail it may never get here. If the recipient has a forwarding address in Miami (we do) it is fed xed to SXM a couple times a week. VERY expensive to receive anything that doesn't fit in an envelope. Other choice is to ship sea cargo. Cheaper than above and you can pay carrier charges in advance.Last time we went to SXM, it was on United via Newark - cheaper than Air Canada, but required an overnight stay. The previous time it was on American Airlines - a two hop flight but cheaper than Air Canada. A quick search finds Toronto to SXM January 14 to Feb 8 for $576 return on American, two hops plus an overnight stay both directions.Yes, I agree it is confusing, but on Travel Talk on Line, St Martin, the residents state that it is for all of North America, and there will be no quarantine, they are not happy as they do not have the facilities to accomodate sick people.

Really nice happy hour at Sublime SXM at Summit resort last evening. As always the views from here are wonderful. The lovely bartender Amber kept us laughing and our glasses full. It's really not that big of a deal. Anguilla is overwhelmingly the better of the two locations but it's fun to explore new places and try new things. We stayed in SXM for the last days of our vacation and I don't regret it.
