Nov 13, 2012 · I was at 55 MPH when all of a sudden my check engine light and traction control light came on. My 4LO and VSC light started flashing. I thought my truck was going to go into 4 LO. I pulled off to the side of the road and managed to get off the highway. I put the truck into 4HI and had no problems. Pulled into the parking lot and work and as soon as I put it in park, my VSC OFF light and 4lo light start flashing. I tried putting it in 4lo but it beeps at me and won't engage 4x4 at all. ... I've used 4-high a few times. Today, I needed 4-low. I was in 4-high. It was working fine. When I turned the switch to 4 low while in neutral, the light on the dash just blinked rapidly. It wouldn't switch to 4 low.

Yes, I finally got to it and fix it. It was the 4wd actuator switch on the transfer case. Toyota want almost $1000 for that part alone and you'll still have to open the transfer case up to pull the actuator off. Instead I went a bought an used whole transfer case for $600 and put it on.
