It deals mad amounts of damage, and honestly the Firelink Greatsword is really only aesthetically pleasing. Functionally it demolishes smaller enemies but is practically useless against players or bosses. The Sunlight Medal method is pretty efficient tho - it should not take longer than 4 hours to get all 30 medals.
