And a lot of people are talking about late game, but when a new spell level first opens to Daeran, he gets very few spells immediately. Based on the choices given but, in the Lost Chapel assault, where you are fighting your way up the hill, you meet your team members and are given the option to have them join you, or go back down the hill.
