Unlucky. You were dead when it dropped. Dead when boss dies -> no cores. Just because u dying U have to stay alive while the boss die. Bosses drop shared and instanced loot. If you are dead, the boss won't drop instanced loot and all you can see/loot are the shared loot. You need to be alive when the boss dies.
