The train ride up to the summit is spectacular in terms of views and engineering. The whole operation has been updated and re-opened I think in 2021 with modern carriages and brand new track which makes for a comfortable ride. About. The train is roomy and comfortable. There are two seats on one side of the train and three on the other-side. The views from the three seat side are slightly better but the views from either side are incredible. Once you reach the summit the views are panoramic and the picture taking is easy-breezy.The ride up takes about an hour and down about 45 minutes. You get about an hour at the top to explore and visit the museum, gift shop and cafe. The train journey itself is a worthwhile experience. Very interesting and the brakeman (Tom in our case) gives you lots of information and background history.
